Leona

I’m Leona, a Chinese teacher with over ten years of experience. Over the years, I’ve helped many learners take their first steps in Mandarin. I’ve seen time and again that language learning only truly comes alive when it connects with culture, daily life, and real people. This belief shapes my teaching: Chinese isn’t just vocabulary and grammar; it’s about stories, perspectives, and human connections.

Julia

I’m Julia. My journey started on the other side of the classroom—as a Chinese learner. What began as an interest in the language turned into a life-changing experience when I moved to Beijing, China as an expat. Living there allowed me to experience authentic daily life firsthand: the subtle cultural differences, the challenges, and the moments that truly resonate. This perspective gave me a deep understanding of what it means to explore China and why cultural exchange is so vital.

Bound by our shared love for languages and cultures, our paths crossed. After many conversations, we realized: why not combine our experiences? Leona brings professional teaching expertise, while Julia brings the authentic expat experience. This is how our platform was born—a place where you can illuminate your Chinese skills clearly and practically, while gaining deep insights into Chinese culture through real stories and observations.

🎋 Yizhu (逸竹) The Cultural Decoder

I’m Yizhu, and I’ve always been fascinated by how language acts as a blueprint for a culture’s soul. To me, Chinese is more than just a communication tool; it’s a unique way of seeing the world. At Chinablick, I love taking deep dives into the logic behind social customs and historical layers, peeling back the complexity to find the human stories underneath. My goal is to help you move beyond just “speaking” the language to truly “understanding” the mindset behind it. As one of the hosts of the Chinablick Chinese Podcast, I invite you to join our conversations and explore the profound “why” behind the language together.

🐿️ He Song (何淞) – The Curious Observer

I’m He Song. I like to think of myself as a lifelong observer of the Chinese language and the tiny, wonderful quirks of daily life. I believe that the most authentic language isn’t always found in textbooks, but in the streets, the jokes, and even the misunderstandings. At Chinablick, I’m the voice of curiosity—bridging the gap between classroom learning and the real, living world. As your co-host on the Chinablick Chinese Podcast, I’m here to share the laughter and those rewarding “aha!” moments of learning Chinese in the real world.
