Every project begins with a story – ours grew out of friendship, curiosity, and a shared dream of building bridges between Germany and China.

I’m Leona, a Chinese teacher with more than ten years of experience. Over the years, I’ve helped many German learners take their first steps in Mandarin. Again and again, I saw how language learning only truly came alive when it was connected to culture, daily life, and real people. That belief shaped my teaching: Chinese is not just words and grammar, but also stories, perspectives, and connections.
And I’m Julia. My journey started on the other side of the classroom – as a learner of Chinese myself. What began as an interest in the language soon turned into a life-changing experience when I moved to Beijing, China as an expat. Living here has allowed me to experience daily life first-hand: the small cultural differences, the challenges, and the moments of real connection. This perspective gives me a very personal understanding of what it means to explore China as a German, and why cultural exchange matters so much.

Our paths crossed through this shared passion, and over many conversations we realized: why not bring our experiences together?
Leona brings professional teaching expertise, Julia brings the expat’s lived experience. This is how our platform was created – a place where you can learn Chinese in a clear and practical way, while also gaining insights into Chinese culture through real stories and observations.
While our main audience is learners from the German-speaking world, we welcome anyone curious about Chinese language and culture. Whether you’re preparing for work or study in China, or simply curious about the country, we want this to be your supportive and inspiring community. At the same time, we also want this to be a useful resource for Chinese language teachers, offering ideas, materials, and cross-cultural insights to support their classrooms and inspire more learners.
Whether you are a student, a teacher, or simply someone curious about China, we hope this platform can be both practical and inspiring. For us, language learning is not only about communication – it is about connection, understanding, and building bridges across cultures.
